Standing Bear Lake: Epic Flooding Closes Trails

After a record-breaking 6.1 inches of rain fell on Omaha on September 30th, we flew over Standing Bear Lake to see to see the effects first hand.

Several segments of the paved trail are now underwater and closed to visitors. The lake has expanded well beyond its usual shoreline. It’s quite a sight to see from above.

All that water had to go somewhere, here’s where a lot of it ended up.

Stay safe and dry Omaha.

A Look at the Progress at Tranquility Park

If you’ve driven past Tranquility Park recently, it’s hard not to notice all the activity. But from the road, you really can’t see just how much the park is changing. We recently captured a few aerial photos of the progress, and from above, the scale of the work—and how the different parts of the project are coming together—is much easier to see.

Omaha residents frequent Tranquility Park for a number of reasons, its popular for soccer, mountain biking, tennis, baseball/softball, walking and other outdoor activities. Even my family uses the park, so we’ve been watching the project and are looking forward to enjoying it again once it reopens.
